‘ROBOCOP RETURNS’ WILL FEATURE ORIGINAL SUIT

Image
CHAD CHILDERS  July 3, 2019, 10:30 AM There’s good news Robocop fans, as director Neill Blomkamp has confirmed via social media that his RoboCop Returns will feature the crimefighter back in his original ‘80s era suit. To that, we say, “I’ll buy that for a dollar.” The original film starred Peter Weller as Officer Alex Murphy, who was brutally attacked in the line of duty, only to hold on long enough to be used as part of Omni Corporation’s cyborg crime unit, donning the iconic, metal-enforced suit as he was put into action. There were a pair of sequels, with the franchise rebooting in 2014 with  The Killing  star Joel Kinnaman inheriting the Murphy role. The film yielded modest box office returns, but did earn some backlash over the look of the character. A sequel was considered before producers decided to revisit the original film and explore the possibilities of a direct sequel. With Blomkamp on board, the direct...

Image
🤵 CHAD CHILDERS July 2, 2019 ⏱️ 10:50 AM All good things must come to an end, and so it shall be for  The Walking Dead  comic that inspired AMC’s long-running hit series. Creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed that issue #193, which arrives this Wednesday (July 3) will be the final issue for the comic series. In an essay that accompanies the issue, Kirkman writes (per EW.com), “This is the end of  The Walking Dead.  That’s it… it’s over… we’re done. I’m sure you have a million questions… and I’m sure you feel as emotional about all this as we do… if not more so. I’m completely willing to bet some of you are angry over this. I get it… I do. I mean… WHY didn’t we announce this so that fans would have some time to prepare? Well… personally… I hate knowing what’s coming. As a fan, I hate it when I realize I’m in the third act of a movie and the story is winding down. I hate that I can count commercial breaks and know I’m nearing the end ...

DISNEY HITS PAUSE ON ‘ALIEN NATION’ REMAKE

Image
20th Century Fox 🤵 CHAD CHILDERS July 1, 2019 ⏱️ 03:45 PM The effects of the Disney/Fox merger continue to be felt, with a proposed remake of the ‘80s film  Alien Nation  now being put on hold by Disney. According to  Variety , Fox had signed  Loving  director Jeff Nichols to helm the film back in 2016, but while the movie hasn’t been cancelled, production on the movie is being put on hold by Disney who now have the rights after the merger earlier this year. Disney shut down the Fox 2000 label back in March, and recently the Fox motion capture film  Mouse Guard became the first casualty of films that were already in the works at the time of the merger. The original 1988 film starred James Caan and Mandy Patinkin as mismatched police officers who eventually bond on the job. Patinkin’s character was a member of an enslaved alien race who sought refuge on Earth and were just beginning to integrate into modern society. The movie was a mo...

WILL SMITH THANKS FANS FOR ‘BIGGEST MOVIE OF MY CAREER’

Image
🤵 CHAD CHILDERS July 1, 2019 ⏱️ 11:00 AM Apologies to the genie, but the topknot is not Will Smith’s “cherry on top.” In fact, it’s his most recent film  Aladdin . Smith sent out a message via Instagram thanking fans as  Aladdin  has now become his highest grossing film worldwide as an actor. That record was previously held by 1996’s summer blockbuster  Independence Day , which had amassed a staggering $511.2 million overseas and $817.4 million globally just over two decades ago. The tallies for Disney’s recent live-action remake of  Aladdin  with Smith as the scene-stealing genie have now hit $568.3 million internationally and $874.2 million worldwide. It’s not quite a clean sweep yet as domestically  Aladdin currently sits third all-time for Smith. The Guy Ritchie-directed film has made $305.9 million domestically, just a tad behind  Independence Day’s  $306.2 million, but it’s Smith’s turn in...

DANNY GLOVER, DANNY DEVITO TAKE ‘JUMANJI’ FRANCHISE TO ‘THE NEXT LEVEL’ IN NEW TRAILER

Image
CHAD CHILDERS   July 1, 2019 ⏱️ 08:30 AM It can sometimes be the absolute worst when your grandparents try to take on your video games, but sometimes it can also be quite amusing. With  Danny Glover  and  Danny DeVito  playing said septuagenarians, we’re hoping for the latter, as a new trailer has been revealed for the  third Jumanji movie , now titled  Jumanji: The Next Level . In this new trailer, returning kid actors Madison Iseman (Bethany), Ser’Darius Blain (Fridge) and Morgan Turner (Martha) become concerned about Alex Wolff (Spencer) and go to check in on him. Discovering a jury-rigged game on Spencer’s TV screen, they assume he’s gone back into the game and get sucked in themselves before picking their characters. Much to their shock, Spencer’s grandfather (DeVito) and his friend (Glover) get pulled in as well, assuming the bodies of Smolder (Dwayne Johnson) and Mouse (Kevin Hart). Turner’s Martha is now in the Ruby Ro...

‘MIDSOMMAR’ REVIEW: THE HORRORS OF RELATIONSHIPS, AND ALSO BIZARRE PAGAN RITUALS

Image
🤵 MATT SINGER   Date : July, 01 2019  ⏱️ 08:30 AM Ari Aster makes horror movies with feeling. The human emotions they explore — grief, rage, depression — are a lot scarier than the more traditional horror elements like the witches and cultists and, in this case, bizarre pagan rituals. Honestly, his setups are sometimes so brutally intense, and the atmosphere of dread so suffocating, that the parts where all hell actually breaks loose and crazy shenanigans befall our doomed heroes can feel like a relief. That’s very much the case in  Midsommar , an outstanding depiction of a broken relationship that turns into a so-so gorefest at a solstice festival in Sweden. The stuff about this couple in decline is lacerating and painful in the best and most hilarious ways possible. The stuff about the solstice is standard horror fare made unfurled, with exceptional craft, at a snail’s pace. And the longer  Midsommar ...
